Ernst Thönen, who constructed as timeconsuming hobby/work the Thönen-Chronicle
and builded the familytree, was the father of Erich Thönen, my genealogy-contakt in Bern, Switzerland.
He died 1972, 84 Years old.
Many of the dates foand by him I did find in an ordner in the
Statsarchiv at Bern.
The eldest Thönen he foand is Martin, born. 1480.
Further back he couldn't reconstruct the history, why at that time
the archive did burn down.
There are five branches A, B, C, D and E.
Branch A, whom Ernst Thönen belongs to and branch E are going back to
this Martin.
Martin, who went to Flandern with v. May, belongs to branch E. We
never did hear or find anything about him or his children.
It would be possible, that Hans, born 1661 branch B, is the one who
emigrated to Holland.
On the other hand none of Hans (born 1661) children is named after his
father
Jakob, born 1634.
And mennonites seem to name their children after the grandparents from
both sides.
The oldest person in branch B is Peter, born 1540.
